FROM FAILURE TO FAME:COLONEL SANDERS




COLONEL HARLAND SANDERS
  1. was born on 9th September in 1890 in Indiana.
  2. At the age of 5, he lost his father.
  3. His mother joined a factory for very bad financial condition of his family.
  4. When his mother had gone to factory, he used to care his brother and sister.
  1. So his mother taught him cooking. At the age of 7, he started cooking.
  2. He loved cooking chicken.
  3. At the age of 12, his mother remarried.
  4. Sanders left home at the age of 13, because his step father used to torture on him.
  5. So his schooling was over after class 7.
  6. He started a job of painting horse cars.
  7. After some years, he left the job and went to meet his uncle. His uncle helped him for getting a new job of conductor in street cars.
12. After some years he joined as a fireman in railways.
13. In this period he married with Josephine at the very young age of 19.
14. He had two children and his family was quite happy.
15. After some years he was fired from railways because he was in controversy with his colleague.
16. Then his wife had divorced him and his children started living with his mother.
17. Again Sanders was alone and his heart was broken. But he didn't give up.
18. He started doing small business like selling tyres of cars. But he again failed in this business.
19. At the age of 39, Sanders had gone to Corbin , state - Kentucky, Indiana and opened a gas station beside Route- 4, America.
20. He also opened a small restaurant on public demand. His restaurant was so famous for a special type of chicken recipe.
21. For growth of his business, he joined Cornell University for a course of 8 weeks of hotel management.
22. The government of Kentucky was so impressed by his chicken recipe.
23. Sanders was titled 'Colonel'. So he was called 'Colonel Harland Sanders'.
24. At the age of 47, Sanders tried to start more branches of his restaurant. But again he failed to complete his dream. After some years, his restaurant was completely closed because a highway was made on his restaurant.
25. At the age of 62, he felt that he was a failure to achieve his dreams. He realized all his mistakes. He started marketing of his unique chicken recipe (when people are thinking of their retirement and go to a comfortable life).
26. He met the owners of approx 1000 restaurants. But luck was not with him and he was rejected by the owners of these restaurants.
27. After some days , he met a business man who had interest in his unique recipe. From this time he never looked back and a company ‘KFC’ ( KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN ) was started.
28. The first KFC franchise was opened in the United States in 1952.
29. The branches of KFC are present in 118+ countries. KFC has more than 18,875 outlets in the world.
30. He died on 16th december in 1980.
